Wimble-done? The new era of British tennis.

Although there hasn't been much success as of late, the likes of 18-year-old Emma Raducanu making it to the fourth round of the prestigious tournament shows huge promise for British tennis.

Raducanu, who only finished her A-Levels just two months before competing at Wimbledon, has impressed immensely. The teenager, born in Canada to a Romanian father and Chinese mother, has competed at the All-England Club since she moved to the UK when she was two-years-old.

As a junior who impressed, she entered this years Wimbledon tournament as a wildcard, to which she has grasped the opportunity with both hands as she advances to the 4th round. It has been 44 years since a British woman has won a Wimbledon title, with the last champion being Virginia Wade in 1977. The expectations are higher than ever.

She has already defeated two top-40 players in Marketa Vondrousova in round 2, and Sorana Cirstea on Saturday. As of now, she is toppling players who are ranked 300 places above her which is a monumental achievement. Her round 4 matchup against 78th-seeded Alja Tomljanovic will be another tough ask for Emma, however she seems unfazed by pressure, and will look forward to beating another established player. Tomljanovic has already been to 4 WTA finals - she'll be no slouch for Raducanu to overcome.

In the men's singles, the British tennis scene has seen little success, with both Andy Murray and Dan Evans bowing out in the 3rd round. Nevertheless, one can hope to see the development of the British men's game over the coming years, as Evans is showing promise as an upcoming player. Perhaps we are seeing the passing of the torch from Murray to Evans, as Murray continues to struggle with injuries. Hopefully, he'll be able to get back to what he once was.

In the men's doubles, Cameron Norrie plays alongside Jaume Munar against Goransson and Ruud tomorrow on court 18, with Norrie hoping that he can make a significant impact at this years tournament.
